Avery Mephistopheles Stout
Avery Mephistopheles Stout will bring the devil out of everyone who is lucky enough to try it. This is the last release of Avery’s Demon Series, released in December every year.
A monster of an imperial stout, it weighs in at an unbelievable %15.95 Alcohol/Vol (taken from bottle of current batch). When I hear about alcohol at this level, my first concern is the overall balance of the brew. Usually when breweries play with fire of this strength, the palates of its devoted followers get burned. However, this is not the case with Mephistopheles.
Malt Lover’s Dream
Avery Mephistopheles Stout is a malt lover’s dream. It shows flavors of chocolate, figs, and caramel. The high alcohol helps in balancing its sweet port-like flavors. This beer also has a “hoppy” backbone that assists in hiding the boozy punch.
Avery Mephistopheles Stout is bottled in 12 oz single bottles for safety reasons, as two of these might make you the next “fallen angel” (Just kidding).

Mephistopheles is the crafty shape shifter, the second fallen angel. IBUs 107.
Mephistopheles is the final installment of “The Demons of Ale” series.
Food Pairing: We like Mephistopheles’ Stout with chocolate (60% cocoa or more), chocolate lava cake, flourless chocolate cake, tiramisu or traditional fruit cake made with rum-soaked fruits.
